Amy Allen is a May 2006 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center and was admitted to the Bar in November 2006. During law school, Ms. Allen was a recipient of the University of Houston Law Center Public Interest Fellowship and served as a law clerk for the Children's Friend in Court, a non-profit organization sponsored by that program. Ms. Allen's employment during law school includes a legal internship for the Family Criminal Law Division of the Harris County District Attorney's Office where she assisted in the prosecution of Protective Orders in the Family Law Courts, and a law clerk for Myres, Dale and Associates, P.C. In addition, she continued to supervise visits through the SAFE Program, and work at The Door, Family Time Foundation's domestic violence shelter.
Ms. Allen received her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin in Applied Learning and Development, (Education). Upon receipt of her decree, Ms. Allen taught elementary school, followed by working as the Education Director for a Head Start program, and later was employed as the Program Director for the SAFE Family Programs, a project of the Victim Assistance Centre, Inc., for five years.
Ms. Allen has extensive experience in the management of family violence cases and dealing with child issues. In addition to Ms. Allen's involvement with Family Time, she served as Guardian Ad Litem through the Ad Litem Task Force, d/b/a Children's Friend In Court, having been appointed on more than fifty cases by the Harris County Family Court judges.
Amy Allen is a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, Houston Bar Association - Family Law Section, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Association of Women Attorneys, and Burta Rhodes Rayborn Inns of Court. Her publications include, "The Effects of Domestic Violence on Children" published in the Houston Lawyer Magazine. Ms. Allen is an avid Longhorn fan and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
