Attorneys Susan Myres and Laura D. Dale, our law firm's co-founders, have both been called upon to serve as expert witnesses in family law–related litigation in jurisdictions outside of Texas and outside the United States.

Susan Myres

For more than 25 years, Susan Myres has successfully represented clients in high-conflict divorce and custody cases. She was elected to the American Academy of Matrimonial Attorneys in 1998, and to the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 2004. She is published in the area of family law and is a recognized speaker for conferences such as Advanced Family Law Seminar and the Marriage Dissolution Institute. Since 1998 Ms. Myres has been board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is a certified arbitrator trained by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Ms. Myres's affiliations include: fellow, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (Governor, National Membership Chair and Texas Chapter President); fellow, International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (U.S. Chapter Vice-President); member, Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists; member, American Bar Association Family Law Section; member and former director, Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists; member and past president, Association of Women Attorneys; member and past president, Burta Rhodes Raborn Family Law Inn of Court; member and past president, Houston Bar Association Family Law Section.

Ms. Myres offers expert witness services on matters relating to calculation of attorneys fees in family law cases, attorney negligence and malpractice; and Texas family law.

Laura D. Dale

Laura Dale received a BA from the University of Texas in 1978, where she majored in psychology and cultural anthropology. She obtained a master’s degree in psychophysiology and a doctoral degree in neuroscience from the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France. There she served as a recherche attaché with the Centre Nationale de Recherche Scientifique and published in several internationally recognized medical journals. Ms. Dale is fluent in French.

Ms. Dale is a certified mediator and has trained as and is a certified collaborative law practitioner and a parenting coordinator under the Texas Parenting Coordinator Statute. Her affiliations include: member, State Bar of Texas Family Law Section; member and Newsletter Editor, Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists; member, Houston Bar Association Family Law Section; member, Burta Rhodes Raborn Family Law Inn of Court; member, Collaborative Law Institute of Texas; member and former director, Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists; member, International Academy of Collaborative Professionals; member, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

Ms. Dale regularly writes opinion letters for foreign attorneys who need to know Texas law for cases under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. She also provides opinions and expert witness services regarding the appeals process for Hague Convention actions and the finality of an order issued as the result of a Hague action.
