Myres & Associates Lawyers Lose - for Charity

HOUSTON, Jan. 25, 2011 -- Three attorneys who practice family law and consumer bankruptcy and six other staffers at the newly formed Myres & Associates PLLC, are celebrating the New Year and their new firm by losing . . . weight and inches.

From now until Mother's Day 2011 for every pound staff at Myres & Associates shed, and for every hour they exercise, the firm will donate $1 to Mission of Yahweh (MOY), a faith-based area shelter for homeless women and children celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.

"We hope that our loss becomes MOY's gain," says founding owner Susan Myres. "We're also collecting pledges from friends, family and clients who support us in this very public quest to slim down and be healthy. The members of our firm are by nature competitive, I anticipate our healthy living programs will be enormously successful - and profitable - for MOY's residents."

MOY's Interim Executive Director, Pamela Jones, LCSW, says MOY is thrilled to benefit from Myres & Associates' outreach, appropriately entitled "Our Loss is Their Gain."

Business attire and casual clothing that no longer fit Myres & Associates' soon-to-be shrinking members will also be contributed to the mission.

"In this very difficult economy, Myres & Associates' commitment is very much appreciated," Jones says. "All our clients receive case management services and meet regularly with vocational counselors. We actually have a room for clothing where women can 'shop' for business attire for interviews/work." MOY supports more than 2,300 residential stays each month.

Myres & Associates opened for business on Jan. 3 after separating from Myres, Dale & Associates.

"Our lawyers have advanced experience with some of the most difficult legal questions that can arise during a divorce, other family disputes, and financial difficulties," Myres says. "Supporting MOY is a natural fit for our firm."
